Brad O'Connell has been Managing Director and Academy Coach at Momentum Baseball Academy since 2015. A native of Elk Mound, as well as an Eau Claire Legion and UW-Stout alum, Brad has been a fixture in the local baseball community as both a player and coach, his entire life.
Brad capped his college baseball career by signing as a free agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization in the summer of 2001. A two-time first team all-WIAC and all-region player, he is the only UW-Stout Blue Devil baseball player in history to earn 1st Team All-American honors when he led the country in batting average (.524) in 2001. The 2001 WIAC baseball Player of the Year, O’Connell had 12 home runs with a slugging percentage of .984. O’Connell had a 37-game hitting streak that stretched from 2000 into the 2001 season, currently tied for 3rd longest in WIAC history. For his career, O’Connell holds a school record batting average of .422 and a school record slugging percentage of .810. He is also tied for the school career record in home runs with 30 and is third all-time in stolen bases with 43.
Aside from his Director responsibilities at Momentum, Brad is available year-round as a hitting instructor for both softball and baseball.
Brad and his wife Sarah live in Eau Claire. They are parents to Dylan (21) and Cami (19). Dylan is currently in his Junior year playing baseball at Western Kentucky University.
